FACILITIES

There are a number of additional facilities included within the museum:

A shop, stocking a range of products, from cards, postcards and wrapping paper to books and gifts for people of all ages.

The second volume of Judy Thomas and Elizabeth Drury's More of Abingdon - Past and Present, photographs of Abingdon book is available here at the gift shop.

On sale too are many greetings cards and postcards, created by local artists, photographers and crafts people.

A cafe area with hot, and cold, drinks and a selection of snacks.

A family area with a mixture of activities with drawing and art materials.

A children's activity area in the Basement - activities take place here during school holidays.  Check the News & Events link for more details.

A donations box, designed by Rodney Forss in 2002, depicting the figures from the town coat of arms, which demonstrates the act of bun-throwing when a donation is made.

A Craft Room containing a collection of contemporary craft (open by appointment) - The Collection, which began in the 1980's by Southern Arts, includes works by artists who have achieved national stature as well as some new acquisitions.  The collection includes pottery, ceramics, furniture and textiles, as well as pieces celebrating Abingdon's heritage by Lubna Chowdhary.  The second-floor display of cased pieces and the larger pieces, including the furniture and textiles, may be seen by appointment.

Free Internet Access is available in the town centre via a hotspot.  This is a wireless Internet connection that is available for the public to access the Internet and collect emails.  You need to be in a location where CTS Wi-Fi Spot is available.  Then you need to ensure you have a wireless-enabled device (laptop, PDA etc).  Simply browse for available wireless networks on your wireless device and select CTS Wi-Fi Spot from the list.

Staff are on hand throughout the day to answer questions and offer assistance.

Regrettably, there is no wheelchair access to the museum, but a visual guide is available at Abingdon Information Centre in Abbey Close.
